Suffolk County Police Second Precinct Officer James Garside, an advanced medical technician, was recently honored by the Huntington Town Board with a proclamation for his part in designing and implementing GPS mapped markers that make hiking at Cold Spring Harbor State Park safer. The trail markers, which are highly visible and indicate a hikers location, were recently used to help emergency personnel to quickly locate a 47-year-old man who was having a heart attack. Critical minutes were saved because of the trail markers, which helped save the man’s life.
